Walk, Hear the Talk

Take a walk around Sneek with a city guide who speaks Dutch, English, French, Italian or German and hear about the history of this town. Visit the worldfamous ‘Waterpoort’ (Watergate) to which the guide holds the key. Have your group picture taken as a memento of the city of Sneek. Departure from the Frisian Maritime Museum in Sneek city centre. 

Duration of the walk is 1.5 hours.

Nautical Experience

The "Fries Scheepvaart Museum" (Frisian Shipping Museum) focuses on the history of Frisian shipping. But also the history of the town of Sneek and its surroundings are shown in the museum. It is not only about Skûtsjesilen, the Sneekweek and the Frisian Navy, but also about the Elfstedentocht or the Sneeker Waterpoort. And the museum has a beautiful collection of silver . There is a cozy museum cafe and for youth there is an exciting children's museum.

Break on the Lake

A two-hour trip on the waters around Sneek and the Sneekermeer on a comfortable roundtrip boat with both indoor and outdoor seating and selling plenty of drinks and food. Get on board in Sneek city centre, which will also be your drop-off point.

Bend your head

A historical Dutch barge will take you through the Sneek canals. Make sure you duck, because some of the bridges are really low. You will learn about Sneek’s extensive maritime history along the way. Departure: Sneek city centre.

Late on the Lake

An evening sailing trip with the lounge skûtsje ‘De Nieuwe Liefde’, with indoor and outdoor seating. Enjoy the beautiful Sneekermeer evening skies, while sipping a drink, eating some finger food an enjoying the music.

See Sailing Island

The Starteiland is a small island in the Sneekermeer where you can experience the water sports life in all its glory. With a group of up to 12 people you sail in about 30 minutes to this island in a lovely sloop, where you have the opportunity to disembark and enjoy the sailing regatta "Kleine Sneekweek" or a drink on the terrace. Then you sail back to the starting point in Sneek.

See the Sawmill

At the Watergate in Sneek you step aboard the beautiful lounge skûtsje "Nieuwe liefde (New Love)". The boat trip brings you to one of the eleven cities, IJlst, a few kilometers ahead. There you visit the sawmill "De Rat" built in 1683, and still in production. Next to the mill lies the brand new Wood Museum, which you can visit. 2.5 hours after departure you'll be dropped off at the Watergate.

Back in Time

From Sneek the bus will take you via Bolsward to the Frisian museum village of Allingawier, where various old trades will be demonstrated, giving you an idea of what Friesland was like around 1900. The next stop is Workum, where you will visit a cheese farm. While you sip a cup of tea or coffee or a glass of lemonade, you will be made familiar with the process of cheese making. Afterwards there will be an hour in which to explore the town of Workum on your own.

Big Bus

Join our trip through the Frisian Zuidwesthoek, which will take you along the various cities that are part of the ‘Elfsteden’ (Eleven Cities) and the lakes with their ever varying surroundings. Visit the historical city of Hindeloopen, situated on the coast of the former Zuiderzee and go back in time. You will be supplied with a city map to explore this tiny town on your own and find the lovely restaurant where you can have traditional Dutch pancakes! You will be joined on this trip by a Dutch/English or German-speaking guide who will ensure that you get to see the treasures of Sùdwest-Fryslân.

Bus at the Sea

Our bus will take you to Europe’s longest dike, the ‘Afsluitdijk’. You will be visiting the newly opened Wadden Centre where you will learn how the dike was built and what it means. The bus then takes you to the old seaport of Harlingen on the Waddenzee, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. A city map will guide you along the harbour and the lovely city centre. A professional tour guide will be present throughout. The official language is Dutch, English aor German.
